Meet the team

We all need someone to talk to

Sometimes life unexpectedly takes a turn and you face difficulties or issues that you simply can’t deal with on your own. Talking is important, but sometimes you might not have anyone you can confide in or you would rather not share your troubles with family or friends.

What does a psychologist do?

A psychologist is a mental health professional who studies human behaviour and the mind. We help people to understand and cope with life events that have become to difficult to manage of their own. In therapy, psychologists aim to help individuals to improve their wellbeing and overall quality of life.

What type of therapy do you use?

Psychologists at Federation Psychology use a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy, schema therapy, emotion focused therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness and others, depending on what you both feel suits you best.

Find out how a psychologist can help

If you decide you could benefit from talking to one of our psychologists, the process will begin with a general consultation. You can discuss your issues and background history with your therapist, establish the focus of your treatment, and decide with them how many sessions you would benefit from.

FAQs
  • How do I book an appointment?
Sometimes arranging the first appointment can be the most difficult part. To book a first appointment, please contact the Yarrawonga Medical Centre on 03 5744 3115. Subsequent appointments can be booked via hot doc, by clicking the "book appointment" button.
  • What do I need to bring to the first appointment?
Bring along your Mental Health Care Plan provided to you by your G.P. and any questions you may have.
  • How many sessions might I need?
Q: How many psychology sessions may I need? A: At Federation Psychology, the number of sessions needed will depend on the individual and their unique circumstances. Our clinical psychologists will work with you to assess your needs and develop a personalized treatment plan. Factors such as the nature of your concerns, your progress in therapy, and your own goals will all play a role in determining the duration of treatment. Some individuals may find relief in just a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. Our goal is to provide the support and guidance you need to make meaningful and lasting changes in your life. We believe in a collaborative approach and will work with you to ensure that you receive the most appropriate and effective care.
  • How much does each session cost?
Individuals eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan can access a Medicare Rebate of $136.35 per session for 10 sessions. This is a part of the Department of Health's Better Access Initiative. In order to receive this rebate, you will need a Mental Health Care Plan from your G.P. A 50 minute session is charged at $235, which means a gap of $98.65 each session. Private health insurance rebates are also available. If you are experiencing financial hardship, or have any questions about out of pocket expenses, please give Molly a call to discuss further.
  • What should I expect in the first appointment?
The first appointment is an opportunity to meet with each other and discuss what has brought you into therapy. Most importantly, it is a chance for us to get to know each other, and ensure that we are a right fit. It is very normal to feel nervous before the first appointment. If you have any questions or concerns about the first appointment, feel free to call Molly to talk further.
